Binga woman loses piece of ear in fight over gossip

A Binga woman will perform a total of 300 hours of community service after she was convicted of assault by a Hwange magistrate.

 

The woman named, Lugwasyo Mudimba (37) of Chigani Village under Chief Pashu, Binga bit off a piece of a fellow villager’s ear accusing her of gossiping about her.

The complainant also sustained other body  injuries as a result of the assault.

 

Prosecutors proved that on the 16th of March 2024, Midimba met the 27-year-old complainant along a footpath and started accusing her of gossiping about her in the village.

 

“The accused person became violent and bit a piece of the complainant’s left ear, bit her once on the upper lip and bit her once on the top of her right eye,”

the court heard.

 

The matter was reported to the police leading to the arrest of the accused person.

 

The State encouraged members of the public to desist from violence and resolve their disputes amicably or seek third-party mediation.

Meanwhile, a 38-year-old Chinhoyi woman, who was masquerading as a police officer, was arrested for robbing a car dealer in Waterfalls.

Rachel and the seven men allegedly approached Farad Ngwerume, 41, a car dealer, while he was parked along Chitungwiza Road.
