A Highlands lady went for an all-night crossover church service in Chitungwiza and came back to in the morning, “the following year” to discover that she had lost property of approximately 1500 USD in value.
When she returned to her home, Florence Maunganidze discovered that thieves had used an unknown object to gain entry into the house through the dining house door.
The stolen goods were listed as 61 Lithium batteries, one inverter. After stealing the goods, the thieves went away unnoticed.
The incident was confirmed by Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza who said:
“Police are investigating an unlawful entry and theft case in Highlands.
“The complainant found her house broken into upon returning from a church service in Chitungwiza.
“Total value stolen is US$1 500,”
Meanwhile, a 40-year-old foreign national was arrested in South Africa after allegedly attempting to drive a luxury BMW across the border into Zimbabwe on New Year’s Eve.
According to South African police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Stephen Thakeng, officers on duty at the Beitbridge Port of Entry spotted a man driving a black BMW G70, 7 Series, valued at over R2 million.
The man intended to cross into Zimbabwe with the vehicle.
