A man from Mpumalanga, South Africa has been found guilty by the strong arm of the law and sentenced to 10 years in prison.
This is after the 39-year-old man broke into his friend’s home and raped his wife; whose name is not being released so as to protect the victim’s identity.
According to court papers, the crime took place in May 2022. Four friends were drinking at a funeral in Lydenburg and among these was a 44-year-old woman.
It is said that the woman felt tired and when home early. The friends went to drop her home early and the husband locked the door from outside before going back for entertainment.
It was then after the convicted man decided to go back to the victim’s house alone. He got the keys and accessed the house whilst the lady was sleeping.
According to police, “It was during this time that the accused raped the victim,”
The victim then reported the offence to the police and specialized family violence, child protection, and sexual offenses (FCS) unit investigated the case, leading to the man’s arrest.
He appeared in court several times before being sentenced to 10 years in prison on October 28, 2024.
Police expressed their gratitude of witnessing justice being served.
