Meghan Markle wanted free handbags, clothes from Victoria Beckam before snubbing her: book

Megan Markle longed to be posh like Victoria Beckham.

While engaged to Prince Harry, Markle allegedly asked the Spice-Girl-turned-fashion-designer for free clothes and handbags. But the request was “vetoed by [Buckingham] Palace for being against their rules,” celebrity biographer Tom Bower reveals in his new book, “The House office Beckham,” out now in the UK and Tuesday in the US.

It’s just one piece of the fall out that resulted in Markle snubbing David and Victoria Beckham.

The “Suits” actress was once so close to the Beckhams she stayed at their Beverly Hills home during a trip to Los Angeles. Bower writes how “a member of Victoria’s staff” offered beauty advice on the best facials and hair dresser in London when Markle was engaged to Prince Harry.

But Markle quickly lost trust in Victoria when she believed the designer had leaked a story to the press.

“Only after The Sun reported how Victoria had given Meghan makeup advice did the relationship between the two ambitious women crash,”

Bower writes, noting that Markle was sensitive to the “media’s probing into her unusual past.”

“Harry was ordered to complain to David Beckham,”

Bower writes, leading the former soccer star to ask Victoria how The Sun got the gossip.

Victoria reportedly denied tipping off the tabloid and blamed a beautician.

The building tension — fueled in part, Bower writes, by Markle’s apparent envy that the Beckhams had more money and access to luxuries like private jets and yachts — came to a head when Markle allegedly snubbed the Beckhams at her wedding to Prince Harry in 2018.

The Beckhams attended the affair but, Bower claims, Victoria, 50, felt “insulted” she and David, 49, weren’t invited to a dinner attended by celebrities including George Clooney.
