ENGLISH Premiership newboys, Luton Town, are close to securing a deal to sign midfielder Marvelous Nakamba from Aston Villa on a permanent deal.
This was confirmed to H-Metro by a reliable figure in Nakamba’s camp.
This source said the Hatters were leading the race. The Warriors star loan spell at Luton turned out to be exactly what the doctor had ordered.
He gave a good account of himself by helping the Hatters earn their EPL status.
His union with Aston Villa is expected to run down at the end of next season.
Luton coach, Rob Edwards, is said to be playing a crucial role in convincing Nakamba and his family that the club is the real deal for him.
“The deal is now almost done and if I’m to break it into percentages, I will say it’s now at 99.9 percent,” revealed the source.
“What is only now left is the completion of the paperwork but Nakamba has made it clear that he doesn’t want to be elsewhere next season, besides Luton Town.
“He is always speaking glowingly about that project and he feels he still has unfinished business there.”
He added:
“Every player wants to be at the environment where he feels loved and Nakamba was humbled by what he experienced during that short period.
“The coach is also another key factor because he instilled an element of belief in Nakamba.
“At the moment I can guarantee you that Nakamba will be at Luton this coming season.”
Meanwhile, the Marvelous Nakamba Foundation annual tournament will take place towards the end of the year.
