Premier League rivals make Chelsea sponsorship complaint

Once again, it seems the other owners in the league aren’t happy with goings on at Chelsea.

Football Insider report that sources have told them have a number of Premier League rivals have raised concerns with the league about the value of our sponsorship deal with Infinite Athlete, finally completed last week.

The deal is said to be worth £40m a season, with the company only having been formed via merger earlier this year. The Premier League took more than two weeks to approve the deal, but did eventually give the green light, without asking even for any changes.

This is something that was suspected for a while, and there were whispers about this the moment IA became linked with a deal for Chelsea.

It certainly seems odd that they have matched Three’s offer from previous years given we’re not in Europe, and had played 6 of 38 Premier League matches by the time their logo was on the shirts – but given their partnership seems set to go far beyond just a logo, it’s impossible for us to say if it’s fair without seeing the detail (which, of course, the Premier League have).
