Carlo Ancelotti’s team were heading to Germany for their round of 16 tie on Tuesday night but according to German newspaper Bild were involved in a collision with a white Toyota on the A4 between Eichelborn and Hora. The report says there is minimal damage to Madrid’s bus and, after a brief stop to check everyone was okay, they continued their journey. However, the damage to the Toyota is estimated at more than £2,500 ($3,160).

A source from Los Blancos told Spanish outlet MARCA: “A fan who was filming the bus in his car got distracted, lost his grip on the steering wheel and bounced off. We didn’t notice it. The people who came in the buses behind us saw it.”

Los Blancos stars such as Vinicius Junior and Federico Valverde were reportedly on board along with technical staff before arriving at the team hotel in Leipzig at 3pm on Monday. Jude Bellingham, however, was not present and is expected to miss the match due to an ankle sprain.

Madrid’s squad landed in Erfurt, Germany, on Monday morning before the 100-mile drive to their destination. Bild reports the car driver was changing lanes and did not see the bus, before one of the exterior mirrors was broken.

After Leipzig host the Spanish giants at Red Bull Arena on Tuesday night, the second leg will take place at Santiago Bernabeu on March 6. Before then, Madrid play Rayo Vallecano, Sevilla, and Valencia in La Liga action.
