A Zimbabwean village was plunged into mourning when Pastor Shamiso Kanyama met his demise following a bizarre request to be buried alive for spiritual cleansing.
Reports reveal that Kanyama, seeking heightened powers to combat evil spirits, instructed five members of a local family to bury him alive, believing this act would imbue him with extraordinary healing abilities.
The family members, now facing murder charges, had sought Kanyama’s aid to rid their home of mysterious deaths. However, their compliance with his grave request led to an unexpected tragedy.
As detailed by Zed 24 News, the accused individuals—Leanmore Mutero, Tonderai Muswere, Michael Muchengeti, Manasa Mutero, and Nicholas Mutero—stand accused before the High Court in Harare.
According to court testimonies, Kanyama actively participated in his burial, digging the grave himself before lying face down and instructing his followers to cover him with soil.
Despite concerns raised by witness Joseph Taderera, who warned of potential harm, Kanyama remained steadfast in his belief of resurrection. Tragically, the attempt to summon divine powers resulted in Kanyama’s untimely death, prompting legal repercussions for the family members involved.
The incident serves as a cautionary tale, underscoring the dangers of extreme beliefs and actions in pursuit of supernatural phenomena.
