Sunflower’s journey began with her departure from Bulawayo on Friday, a trip she was looking forward to, intending to spend some time in Harare. She had made arrangements to stay at an Airbnb, planning to check in upon her arrival in the capital city. However, she never arrived at the accommodation, and her friends and family have been unable to reach her since.

The last known contact with Sunflower was at 8 P.M. on Friday, when messages sent to her phone were still being delivered. Since then, there has been no communication, and her phone has been unresponsive. Concerned for her safety, her friends have taken swift action, checking with the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) at Central Police Station and reaching out to medical facilities like Parirenyatwa Hospital in hopes of finding any leads.

As the search for Sunflower continues, her friendโ€™s online plea has resonated deeply within the community, prompting many to share the post and offer their support. The case highlights the vulnerabilities faced by trans individuals, particularly in regions where they may face discrimination or lack of understanding.

The post on X has garnered significant attention, with users spreading the word and offering suggestions on further steps to take. Some have recommended contacting local LGBTQ+ organizations for assistance, while others have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any sightings or information that might help locate Sunflower.

Sunflower’s friends and family remain hopeful and are urging anyone with information to come forward. They emphasize the importance of community support and solidarity in these critical times, asking everyone to keep Sunflower in their thoughts and prayers as the search efforts continue.

As this situation unfolds, the community’s response underscores the need for awareness and proactive measures to ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals, regardless of their gender identity. ZNN
