Maxwell Sangulani Chikumbutso who of late has been trending after he met President Mnangagwa showcasing his so-called inventions which included a motor vehicle and a “solar generator”. The whole audience at the State House stood in admiration, applauding the innovations which they said could change the world.

On the other hand, it has been realised that Chikumbutso and his five accomplices were in 2018 arrested for alleged 6 counts of armed robbery which included the robbery of a service station.Represented by his lawyer, Admire Rubaya, Chikumbutso was denied bail.

The continuation of the trial started in 2021, but only three of his accomplices were left as two of them had passed on. This can somehow tally in Chikumbutso’s sentiments during his project(s) explanation to the president where he claimed that one of his friends was poisoned in the US and he himself survived by what he referred to “the Grace of God”.

Chikumbutso’s appearance at the State House on the other hand has become very controversial as it has been established with the help of the internet and “reverse-image” search that Chikumbutso did not invent the products he came showcasing but had in fact taken products from US and China.

The vehicle he claimed to have invented was an electric vehicle with charging invented and designed in China. The vehicle is named Kaiyi X3 Pro EV. Chikumbutso’s own “model” is identical and similar to the original model. No alterations were made on it.
