Tynwald School Nyanga Bus Accident: What We Know So Far

In an unfortunate development, a bus from Tynwald School in Harare was involved in a horrific accident which resulted in 6 children losing their lives, on Friday night.

According to reports, the accident occurred when the driver of the bus failed to negotiate a sharp curve and crashed at Pine Tree Inn, close to Juliasdale in Nyanga. The driver lost control of the bus, which veered off the road and landed in a gorge, killing and injuring the passengers.

46 pupils and teachers from Tynwald School, who were on a school trip, were on board the bus when the accident occurred.

The horrible accident was confirmed by former cabinet minister and Nyanga South legislator Supa Mandiwanzira on Friday night.

 

Posting on social media, the Member of Parliament wrote,

 

“Many thanks to the Nyanga District Hospital staff led by DMO Dr John Muungani attending to [the] victims of a terrible school bus accident in Juliusdale, Nyanga this evening.

“Five lost their lives on the spot and one just passed on at the hospital.”

 

In another post, Supa Mandiwanzira said,

 

Heartfelt gratitude to the ambulance services at the Juliusdale School Bus Accident this evening. Their dedication and effort – Priceless. We owe you a lot.
