Flamboyant businessman Wicknell Chivayo has seemingly responded to news that the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) is investigating him for money laundering and corruption.
The ZACC probe was prompted by “explosive revelations” of high-level corruption and money laundering.
The investigation is focusing on a $40 million election tender for the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) in the 2023 elections. However, the scope extends beyond the tender to include the Presidential Goat Scheme.
ZACC announced that it is investigating Chivayo along with associates Moses Mpofu and Mike Chimombe.
Chivayo, known for his lavish lifestyle, has been accused by his own business partners of fraudulent activities. In a letter, Moses Mpofu claimed that Chivayo had been on a spending spree, buying cars, donating vehicles, and splurging on mansions and designer clothes.
Responding to the allegations, Chivayo dismissed his partners as “extortionists and illiterate briefcase businessmen.”
Following the announcement of the ZACC investigation, Chivayo took to his Instagram stories with a cryptic response. He shared a video of himself driving his Rolls Royce while singing along to Jah Prayzah’s “Vanorodza Museve.”
In the video, Chivayo is singing along to the song which goes, “Vanonyaudza kunge nhekure/Handikendenge Mambo/Voda kunyangira ndirere/Vanorodza museve” which roughly translates to “They are making an irritating noise but I do not care/They are plotting whilst I sleep/They are sharpening their arrows to attack me”.
